What if church wasn't just a place to go? what if "church" was a verb? Changing "church" into a verb is a goal for the United Methodist Church. See how you can help.

Music plays a significant role in our worship services each week. Whether you prefer a more contemporary form of music or traditional hymns, SHUMC has many ways for you to participate.
The church's chancel choir has been a fixture in worship services for many years. The choir presents special music during the traditional service each week under the direction of Amy Seifert.
The choir performs special cantatas each Christmas and Easter season, with performances during worship services and also at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Tabernacle here
SHUMC Chancel Choir
in St. George.
The choir performed in the 2007 Wesley Choral Festival in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City and in the 2009 national Memorial Day celebration at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
The choir rehearses each Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the music room. Contact the church office for more information.
Praise Band
Our praise service each week features music provided by our praise band. The band leads the congregation in the singing of more contemporary tunes, all aimed at bringing glory to God.
Our band has a pianist, keyboardist, guitar players, a drummer and multiple voices.
Space in the praise band is limited, but if you would like to participate, please contact Amy in the church office for details. Rehearsals are 6 p.m. Tuesdays.
Wesley Ringers
SHUMC believes that music can play a significant role in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Each worship service features a variety of musical numbers. The Chancel Choir provides music for our traditional services. If the choir doesn't sing, members of the congregation and community provide special musical performances.
We also include the congregation, which sings along with the praise band in praise services, and hymnals are used each week in the traditional services. We utilize the United Methodist Church hymnal and other supplements.
The Wesley Ringers is a bell choir that provides special music in worship services and at community events. The ringers present their music once a month in worship services.
The bell choir rehearses each Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in the music room.

BOUND FOR ROME?: The SHUMC Chancel Choir has been invited to take part in a choral festival in Rome and to sing at the Vatican in 2011. The group will decide whether it will accept the invitation in the coming weeks, so please contact the church office if you are interested in participating with the choir.

WESLEY RINGERS BELL CHOIR: SHUMC's bell choir, the Wesley Ringers, practices each Sunday afternoon after the worship service in the music room. Anyone who is interested should call Amy at 627-8638.
SHUMC offers some special performances for the community. The church serves as host for visiting groups from across the United States and the world.
Some of our past guests include the Watoto Children's Choir from Africa, the group Ernie Couch & Revival, college choirs and harp musicians.
Check this page on our Web site from time to time to see what kinds of events are coming up in the St. George area.
Special Performances
Our Chancel Choir has traveled twice since 2007 to share its musical talents.
The choir performed in 2007 in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York as part of a celebration of the life of Charles Wesley, one of the founders of the Methodist Church. In 2009, the choir took part in the national Memorial Day celebration at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
