Rev. Buddy Herrington has served as pastor at Shepherd of the Hills since July 2004.

Buddy was born in Alabama but spent most of his childhood in Georgia. As a child in the South, he spent time hunting and fishing, as well as working with a local Boy Scout troop. Friendship Methodist Church was a source of spiritual nourishment. During summers, he spent time at Epworth-by-the-Sea, a methodist camp on St. Simons Island, Ga. That is the place where he first felt the call to full-time ministry.

church choir and played in the band.

Buddy received an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, and upon graduation he attended pilot training. During the height of the Vietnam War, he spent three years flying combat airlift support and bomber offensives.

He completed a career in the Air Force with stops in Vitenam, Guam, Georgia, Alabama, Nebraska, Louisiana, California and TExas, as long as temporary stations at other locations. Much of his time was spent working at the Pentagon. His last assignment was to the Air Force Space Command in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he attended Sunrise UMC and taught Disciple Bible Study classes

After leaving the Air Force, he attended Iliff School of Theology at Denver University. He was ordained and received his first assignment as an associate pastor at Hilltop UMC in Sandy, Utah. Next, he was sent to Memorial UMC in Eaton, Colo.

Buddy was married to his wife, Mary, while he was in flight training. They have two sons and three granchildren, who are a real source of joy in their lives.

Jay often is found playing either the organ, piano or keyboard during our worship services.

Jay holds degrees in English and music, as well as a secondary teaching certificate, from the University of Utah.

He has taught school for more than 40 years and continues to play a variety of musical styles, including jazz.

Jay has recorded several solo albums featuring his work on the piano.

He and his wife, Sharon, have four children and seven grandchildren.

He and Sharon enjoy the wonderful people at SHUMC and appreciate what they learn and do here. They have found their church home.

Amy has served as the music director at SHUMC since 2002 and took on duties as the pastoral assistant in 2008. She is studying at Asbury Theological Seminary and is a candidate for ordination as a deacon in the United Methodist Church.

Her duties include music ministry, lay counseling and assisting with pastoral duties for the congregation in St. George.

Amy has a bachelor's degree in music education from Baker Univeristy, a liberal arts United Methodist university in Baldwin City, Kan. She has served as youth director at First United Methodist Church in Leavenworth, Kan., and served as the music director at Campbell United Methodist Church in Springfield, Mo., where she directed multiple adult and children's choirs.

Amy and her husband, Todd, have two children.

If you need something in the church office, Jane is your best point of contact.

Jane has served the church in many capacities for a number of years. Besides her office duties, she also teaches Sunday School for our elementary students, sings in the choir, assists with United Methodist Women and helps organize the annual Children's Sabbath celebration.
